R&D Projects

This is what grew out of "Personalized DUR in My Hand" in 2017: apps, digital cards, hospital CDSS, MyData, and LLMs. On featured projects, "Details" opens the introduction video, the attachment form and a demo of the real screens, and the press marks show related articles. The three steps follow in order: check it, show it, and take it with confidence.

Featured projects

Drug Allergy Alert app

2018 -Android app · Smart-DURIn service

A personalized app for preventing drug allergy. A mobile drug safety card, an action plan written in plain words, drug search, and prescription QR scanning. Google Play rating 5.0 from 87 reviews, more than 500 downloads. Grand Prize in the health and medicine category, 2018 Smart App Award Korea.

Digital Drug Safety Card and Allergy Passport GPT

2022 - 2024MFDS R&D

A one-page summary of a patient's drug side effects, opened with a single QR code at any hospital or pharmacy. Cards are issued at 6 institutions, and the information sharing platform (myadr.care) has 709 people registered across 9 university hospitals (as of 2024.12). We also load the same information into a GPT, so patients can ask it questions as if they carried ‘my allergy passport’. 2024 Society President's Award, Korean Society for Patient Safety.

Drug Allergy Health Information Exchange

2023.10 - 2025.3KHIS Health Information Exchange program, Phase 2 · Co-investigator

With Prof. Hye-Ryun Kang's team at Seoul National University Hospital, this pilot let a drug allergy record confirmed at one hospital travel to another over the Health Information Exchange system. I set the standard for drug allergy information sharing (standard form and value domains) and upgraded the HL7 FHIR AllergyIntolerance profile. 2023 Excellence Award, Health Information Exchange best-practice contest.

MyData Safe Medication CDSS and the Yagirang app

2023 - 2025MOHW R&D

A patient downloads their own diagnosis, medication, lab and checkup records from the ‘My Health Record’ app and uploads them to the SMART DUR CDSS at myadr.care. The system screens polypharmacy risk against drug interactions, potentially inappropriate medications for older adults, anticholinergic burden and the STOPP criteria, then writes a medication guide for that patient. If there is a history of side effects, it adds an allergy report. A clinician reviews it and sends it to the patient app Yagirang. Field tested at 3 institutions.

Drug&Safety

2021 -Faculty startup · Sole proprietorshipIn service

“A precision medicine platform built on each patient's own experience with medicines.” I designed the My ADR platform as an extension of the Drug Allergy Alert app, and took it through the CBNU lab startup program, KAIST Open Venture Lab and the Pre-Startup Package.

Tools I built No funding behind them; I needed them for clinic and research

Adaptive pre-visit intake system for first visitsOngoing2026 - Ongoing · A pre-visit intake system whose questions branch dynamically from the patient's chief complaint. It first builds interview blueprints validated for each physician and each chief complaint, then uses them to generate questions aimed at the differential diagnosis.
Patient report generator for allergy test results (MAST/SPT/UniCAP → HL7 FHIR)Ongoing2026 - Ongoing · A web platform that reads MAST, SPT and UniCAP result sheets by OCR, runs an adaptive interview that separates sensitization from true allergy, then produces a personalized patient report and HL7 FHIR R4 resources at the same time. Clinical logic for oral allergy syndrome and house dust mite to crustacean cross-reactivity is built in, and coding draws first on the 155 SNOMED mappings already in the hospital OMOP CDM. · Notion page · GitHub - APAAACI_mast_to_HL7FHIR
ETL from hospital source data to OMOP CDM, with standard documentationOngoing2026 - Ongoing · An ETL pipeline that converts hospital EMR and CDW source data into the OMOP Common Data Model, plus a documentation system that records the whole extract, transform and load process in a standard in-house format.
Pipeline for extracting clinical data from health checkup results and standardizing it to SNOMED CTOngoing2026 - Ongoing · A pipeline that pulls clinical data out of national health checkup result sheets and My Health Record (MyHealthWay) data and standardizes it to the SNOMED CT terminology. · Notion page
JSON/Excel converter for FHIR AllergyIntolerance resourcesIn service2025.9 - Ongoing · A web tool that converts HL7 FHIR AllergyIntolerance resources between JSON and Excel so drug allergy information is easier to work with. I designed it so that staff who never handle standard resources can still review and edit them. · Notion page · Web demo
Smart Schedule & Task - automatic calendar and task entry from Gmail (Gmail add-on · Chrome extension · n8n)Ongoing2025.8 - Ongoing · A productivity automation project that reads Gmail message bodies and attached images with an LLM and files them automatically as Google Calendar events and Google Tasks. While upgrading the Apps Script add-on to v3.0 I fixed an accidental auto-invite of attendees and a hardcoded time zone, and added Telegram and n8n paths so it also works from a phone. · Notion page · GitHub - smart_scheduler
n8n workflow that generates personalized medication counseling images for SMART DURIn service2025.8 - In service · An n8n workflow that fires when a new patient row lands in a Google Sheet: it builds a prompt for each combination of DUR alerts, generates the medication counseling image, then saves it and logs progress on its own. Batch splitting, retries and error handling keep the number of API calls under control. · Notion page
SMART+ER counseling chatbot for allergic rhinitisCompleted2025 · A counseling chatbot built in Flowise that answers questions from patients with allergic rhinitis about their home environment and symptoms, deployed inside the hospital. It grew out of data-utilization research in the Medical Data-Driven Hospital program, and the work was presented as a European Respiratory Journal 2024 abstract.
